Finca Ki'
Ki' means "Earth Spirit" in the language spoken by the first human inhabitants of the Puerto Rican archipelago. We named the farm Ki' because the spirit of Mother Earth is felt intensely here. Our project development is still in progress. We plan to launch our services in late 2025. These include wellness workshops to strengthen our mental health by reconnecting with our inner selves and learning from nature respectfully through observation and gratitude, in a context of sustainability and collective care. Our mindfulness-based ecotherapy workshops aim to cultivate inner peace and social cohesion by going beyond conventional healing practices, incorporating science, ancestral knowledge, and cultural/ spiritual principles in which humanity heals by realizing that we belong to a network of interconnected beings nurtured by reciprocity. In ecotherapy, the real therapist is nature. The content of the workshops will include coping with stress, therapeutic horticulture, forest bathing ("shinrin-yoku"), river healing, massages, yoga, outdoor recreation, etc. We will offer eco-touristic lodging with nutritious breakfasts containing at least some farm produce. We are a family & community project. Growing food through agroecology is one of the methods we are learning to contribute to climate justice efforts.

Location

Finca Ki' is part of the Barrio Duque community in the municipality of Naguabo, which spans 52 square miles in eastern Puerto Rico. The farm is 5 minutes away from the closest bakery, 10 minutes away from Downtown Naguabo (supermarkets), and 15 minutes away from the ocean. Naguabo stretches from the shores of the Caribbean Sea to the peaks of El Yunque, bordered by Río Grande to the north, Ceiba to the northwest, Las Piedras to the east, and Humacao to the south. It is very close to the Ceiba Ferry Terminal and RVR Airport, and an hour from SJU Airport. People call it the Town of the "Enchumbaos" (very wet). Six rivers run through the area, including Daguao, Santiago & Blanco rivers. It has lush natural pools, waterfalls, streams and natural springs. The nickname also alludes to its abundant rainfall, which stems from its proximity to El Yunque, Puerto Rico's subtropical rainforest.
Don’t Miss
El Yunque National Forest is located in northeastern Puerto Rico, literally above the farm. It is an internationally-recognized tropical rainforest in the Caribbean. Despite often being referred to as a tropical rainforest, its elevation and climate classify it more accurately as a subtropical rainforest. It is known for its high biodiversity, frequent rainfall, and lush, dense vegetation. You can visit the El Portal Visitor Center, hike to several peaks through diverse trails, waterfalls and beautiful sights. The forest comes alive with the nightly calls of coquí tree frogs.
